It could be folding, embolding, cutting and pasting in layers, sculpting in papier-mâché - and even a combination of these techniques together. This allows creation of 3d objects and full installations.

Some artists create dioramas - boxes with a back light and multiple layers, the display is impressive thanks to the lights and shadows created in between the layers.

I like creating small objects and bringing them together into bigger compositions.
